Royal Comfort to Host Wine Country Luncheon and Winery Tour for Inbound Chinese Delegation

(Portland, OR) – On Wednesday, August 5th, Portland-based export company, Royal Comfort, LLC, will host a wine tasting luncheon at The Allison Inn in Newberg, and a winery tour for an inbound trade delegation of Chinese buyers visiting Portland, Oregon, in conjunction with a mission sponsored by the WUSATA (Western United States Agricultural Trade Association).

At the luncheon, Royal Comfort will showcase three Oregon wineries, including: Benton-Lane Winery (Monroe), Eola Hills Wine Cellars (Rickreall), and Harper Voit (Gaston). Winery representatives will be in attendance to sample their wines for export and answer questions about their unique Oregon wines and their winemaking processes. These three wineries are currently working with Royal Comfort, LLC, to prepare products and trade show displays for participation in a major international trade show, Interwine, to be held this November in Guangzhou, China.

“We’re seeking to expand our markets as Eola Hills anticipates producing more than 100,000 cases of wine in the next few years, primarily Pinot Noir,” says Tom Huggins, founder and general manager of Eola Hills Wine Cellars. “We have high hopes that China – the largest growing consumer market in the world – will become a key market for our wines.”

“This is a great opportunity for us to share our world class wines with China, and we expect our wines to be well received not only by the incoming delegation, but also when we take our wine to the upcoming Interwine Trade Show in Guangzhou, China,” says Steve Girard, founder/president of Benton-Lane.

Following the luncheon, Drew Voit, internationally acclaimed winemaker and winemaker/founder of Harper Voit, will lead a guided tour of his winery at Beacon Hill and demonstrate his unique approach to wine-making. “I’m looking forward to showing the delegation how a custom wine-making operation works,” says Voit, “and how cultivating relationships with several small production vineyards can produce some really amazing wines.”

The delegation will also visit a produce farm in Sherwood, and then return to The Allison Inn for a wine and beer demonstration by local Pacific Northwest producers, hosted by the WUSATA. In addition to wines from Benton-Lane, Eola Hills Wine Cellars and Harper Voit, there will be other representatives in attendance showcasing the bounty of Pacific Northwest beer and wine.

The inbound trade mission allows international buyers the opportunity to experience Pacific Northwest wine and food where it originates, and to have one-on-one conversations with beverage producers and food processors. It’s important for international buyers to experience the products, understand the production process and meet the producers before products from the Pacific Northwest enter the market. The trade mission also allows Oregon companies and growers to meet with potential buyers without having to make the investment of time and money of going overseas themselves.
