All the World's a Stage

Willamette Shakespeare performs the bard’s lines among the vines

Hamlet. Daniel Somerfield seems awestruck by the name alone, one so many students naively associate with dense reading, tricky quizzes or even trickier performances. Not Somerfield, an Oberlin College grad who spends his days in a Nike office and his summer evenings presenting William Shakespeare to Oregon wine country. Oregon Wine Country chefs cook up new restaurant concepts

The Joel Palmer House in Dayton and The Painted Lady in Newberg are among a few restaurants in the Yamhill Valley claiming world-class credentials. Pfeiffer Vineyards celebrates 30 years of growing grapes

Sheep and chickens. That’s how the story of Pfeiffer Vineyards begins. ... In 1947, Harold and Signe Pfeiffer moved from high-pace Los Angeles County to low-country Oregon near Junction City. He left his career as a musician — mainly piano — for a chance to raise his four children in a rural setting on a large piece of land, approximately 240 acres of cutover.

It’s an annual tradition. OWP editor Hilary Berg shares a few words on the Bard, the phrases he made famous and the inspiration he continues to provide.
