10th Annual Paulée (Harvest Celebration) Dinner

Caveau will host its 10th Annual “Paulée Dinner” Friday, November 6th, 2015, at 6:30 pm, with a multi-course meal at Imperial, James Beard award-winner Vitaly Paley’s restaurant. The meal brings together 50 Pinot lovers who are all asked to bring a few special bottles to share in the traditional spirit of La Paulée (and maybe sing a Burgundian drinking song or two!). For more information or reservations, e-mail scott@caveauselections.com or call 503-679-6233. The cost of the Paulée dinner is $125/person. Imperial Restaurant is located in the luxurious Hotel Lucia in downtown Portland. Contact the hotel directly and mention Caveau Selections for a special overnight rate.
The French term La Paulée is the name of the celebration that began in Burgundy centuries ago, originally as a small feast the winegrowers hosted for their pickers and winery crews on the final day of harvest. Over time this mutated into the now famous “La Paulée de Meursault”, where hundreds of winegrowers from all across Burgundy get together for a 10-hour lunch in the cellars of the Chateau de Meursault on the 4th Monday of November, and each guest brings several prized bottles from their cellars to freely share with all. Ten years ago, winemaker/importer Scott Paul Wright decided it was time for the soon-to-be famous “Paulée d’Oregon.”
