International Tempranillo Day

The 5th annual International Tempranillo Day is November 12th! Abacela will celebrate our flagship grape with festivities starting Thursday and running throughout the weekend.

Tempranillo, indigenous to Spain, is planted to over 500,000 acres of vineyards making it the world's fourth most planted wine grape. Until the 20th century, almost all Tempranillo was grown in Spain where it achieved international fame in the great wines of Rioja and Ribera del Duero.

Here at Abacela the grape has flourished for 20 years with many other US producers, in multiple states, following suit. The Tempranillo, Advocates, Producers and Amigos Society (TAPAS) was formed to bring attention to Tempranillo and other Iberian grapes that are gaining popularity amongst new world producers and consumers alike.

You don’t want to miss the opportunity to taste with the pioneers of American Tempranillo. The tasting room will be open from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM Thursday night.

• Spanish Guitar with Neil Gregory Johnson 5-8:00 PM
• Special Tempranillo Flight, $10 ($5 for wine club members)
