Small Business Saturday is an American shopping holiday hel d on the Saturday after US Thanksgiving during one of the busiest shoppi ng periods of the year. First observed on November 27, 2010, it is a c ounterpart to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, which feature big box reta il and e-commerce stores respectively. By contrast, Small Business Satu rday encourages holiday shoppers to patronize brick and mortar businesse s that are small and local.
